Important Note for Families: This is a preliminary tournament schedule. Dates, fees, and events are subject to change as 2026 registrations open. AAU membership is required for all players before competing in AAU-sanctioned events. We update this schedule monthly — families receive at least 3 weeks notice before any tournament is locked.

2026 AAU Eligibility — Boys
Every player must meet AAU age and grade requirements before competing in any sanctioned event. Proof of ID is required at all AAU competitions.
14U
8th Grade Division
Age: No older than 15 on or before Aug 31, 2026.
Grade: 8th grade as of Oct 1, 2025.
Note: May "play up" to age-based events.
15U
9th Grade Division
Age: No older than 16 on or before Aug 31, 2026.
Grade: 9th grade as of Oct 1, 2025.
Note: Incoming freshmen — HS level divisions begin here.
16U
10th Grade Division
Age: No older than 17 on or before Aug 31, 2026.
Grade: 10th grade as of Oct 1, 2025.
Note: Sophomore year — college recruiting radar begins.

AAU Membership Required: All players must hold a current AAU membership card before competing. Individual membership: ~$14–$18/year. Register at aausports.org. Coaches must also be registered. Proof of ID required at all events.

Section 7 Boys is where college basketball gets recruited. Over 900 college coaches from Division I through JUCO attend this event during the NCAA's official June scholastic live period. Held at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa.

CRITICAL: Section 7 is school-sanctioned and invitation-only. Club and AAU teams cannot enter directly. Players must compete under their high school program (grades 9–12). Section 7 Futures (June 18–20) may offer an entry point for younger players — confirm at section7bb.com.

AAU is the primary competitive circuit for club boys basketball at the 14U–17U level. Unlike Section 7, AAU tournaments are open to club teams — no school affiliation required. The pathway runs from local Arizona district tournaments → regional qualifiers → AAU World Championships in Orlando.

Mamba AAU Strategy: Register all players at aausports.org before June 5th. Enter local Arizona district tournaments in May–June to build ranking and earn a qualifying bid. Target Division 2 for 14U–15U and evaluate Division 1 for 16U–17U based on roster strength.

The boys program has two tracks — a local track (no travel, all AZ) and a Nationals track (AAU World Championships in Orlando). Neither is mandatory. We build the schedule so families can opt in to as much or as little travel as works for them.
The local track is strong. Arizona has elite competition. Competing well here builds a ranking that gets noticed. The Nationals track is for families who want the biggest stage — Orlando in July is exactly that.
Payment plans are available for the monthly program fee. If finances are a barrier, reach out to Maceo directly and privately. Our scholarship fund exists for this exact purpose. No player misses out because of cost.
